Singer/songwriter from Brookfield, CT

Mark has been playing guitar and finding songs for thirty years, and he is returning to the local music scene after a ten-year hiatus to focus on his kids.  Mark’s songs explore moments and stories that are full of the complexities and simplicities of day to day life, personal identity, and relationships. In crafting his lyrics, Mark aims to make it possible for those listening to his songs to find themselves somewhere in the lines so that they own each song as much as he does.

Mark's major musical influences are James McMurtry, REM, Bob Mould, Buddy Guy, Phish, The Grateful Dead, John Coltrane, Zacarias Ferreira (and all great bachateros), Oscar Peterson, Sonny Stitt, The Be Good Tanyas, The Cure, and Will Hoge, to name a few.

The longer it takes,

the longer I try

to leave all this poetry behind,

the harder I fall,

the harder it seems

to filter reality from dreams.

A moment of strain,

a moment of sight,

the clarity burns

blindingly bright.

I'm holding you close,

as close as I can,

when all I am holding

is this pen.
